Producer: Ramesh Taurani (Tips Films) and UTV
Motion Pictures (Ronnie Screwvala and Sidharth Roy Kapoor)
Director: Abbaas-Mustaan Duo
Music:Pritam
Star cast: Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Deepika
Paadukone, Anil Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Amisha Patel.
What’s Good: Few Performances, the dialogues, extraordinary
screenplay, the music and stylish direction
What’s Bad: Complicated story, lots of twists, animation
and vfx, long climax.
Script
Story and screenplay of the film is penned by
Shiraz Ahmed. His story is quite complicated, because of huge twist and turns. After
fighting on the streets, Armaan Malik (John Abraham) has now become the king of
casino with her step sister Elena (Deepika Paadukone), who is 50% share holder
in entire business. Armaan also handles a sexy pickpocket girlfriend Omisha
(Jacqueliene Fernandez). When Ranveer (Saif Ali Khan) finds that Armaan is the
killer of his pregnant wife Sonia (Bipasha Baasu), he make plan to take revenge
from Armaan with the help of fruit loving friend Robert Decoster (Anil Kapoor).
Shiraz Ahmed’s screenplay suits to the film. It has twist and turn after every
10 minutes. There are lots of illogical scenes in the screenplay. How can
anyone steal Shroud of Turin in the hi-tech security? Kiran Kotriyal has penned
lots of double meaning dialogues (Har stand baithne ke liye kyon bana hota
hai?). Every dialogue suits to every character. But she could have written better
lines for thriller.
Star Performance
Saif Ali Khan played the role of Ranveer Singh
with great efforts. His beard look gives a different shade to the character. Saif’s
dialogue delivery is up to the mark. John is average in the negative role of
Armaan Malik. John did very over react in few emotional scenes. But in action
scenes, he is good. Deepika Paadukone is brilliant as Elena. She looks really
hot in some two piece costumes. Her onscreen chemistry with Saif is mind
blowing. Jacqueline is good in the role of hot and sexy Omisha. She delivered
her lines in very passionate way (You’re such a kameena). Aditya Pancholi (God
father) is good in very short role.
Music
Almost every one’s favorite composer, Pritam, has made tunes for the
thriller. His department is top on the game. Every song is popular on radio
chart and suits to the situation of the film. Party on mind is extraordinary. Lat
lag gayi is well composed. Salim-Sulaiman’s background score suits to every
scene.
Direction and other technical dept.
Hussain Burmawala’s editing is not very sharp. He
could control the length of the film, but he didn’t. Peter Hein’s action stunts
are average. The special effects are disappointing in many scenes. Prime focus
didn’t focus on the vfx work. Abbas-Mustan’s direction is very stylish. Their
narration style helped a lot to understand the complicated script. Their
direction once again proved that no one can make good thriller than this duo.
Last Word
If you are fan of suspense thrillers and
entertaining films, Don’t dare to miss this movie.
Box office predictions
Tips Films and UTV spent more than 90 crore
rupees on this film. Film has taken huge opening in all around the country. In
east Punjab territory (Punjab, Chandigarh
and Haryana), film has taken earth shattering opening with 100% occupancy. Film
will also do huge business on Saturday due to national holiday of Republic day.
According to our estimate, film can earn more than 40 crore rupees on first weekend. But it
needs to do struggle to make profit for the distributors.
